Love In Action

Read: 1 John 3:16-18 – By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. ¹⁷ But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?¹⁸ My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Thought: We can know God by the action that was taken.  I know God loves me because He gave His Son for me!  Actions speak louder than works.  Actions reinforce words spoken.  Our actions will tell if we really love our brethren or not. What do your actions say?  

Questions:

1.      How did Christ show us love?

2.      How do we lay our lives down for the brethren? (See v.17)

3.      If we shut up our hearts, what are we not doing for our brethren?

4.      How should we love one another?  In _________  &  ___________ (v.18)

Exercise: “Action”

Everyone must pick 1 specific way to show love to others.  Each person must act out what they came up with & everyone else must guess.  (It is like playing charades)  You cannot talk, only act.  Good luck.

                       

Prayer: Pray that we show an active love and not just talk a good game.
